Ballet Master Class - Friday, August 21
with Maricar and Derek Drilon

We invite all Utah Dance Academy dancers, friends, and community dancers to join us for an incredible ballet Master Class. Participants will learn from Maricar Drilon and her son Derek. Both are absolute masters of their craft and inspirational teachers! (Bio's Below) You do not want to miss this extraordinary opportunity. 

Students will be split into two groups. Each group will have a full hour Master Class with both Maricar and Derek. 
9:30-10:00 Check-in
10:00-11:00 First Class
11:00-12:00 Second Class

The admission cost for the two classes is $25 for UDA students and $30 for community guests. You can pay with VENMO to Kathy CARVER - UDA (QR Code Below) or bring cash or check to the studio when you check in on the day of the event.

Maricar Drilon

Maricar has danced as a soloist and principal dancer in a number of prominent Ballet Companies and Theaters including CCP Dance Company, Ballet West, Eugene Ballet, LA Classical ballet, Nevada Ballet Theater, and Oregon Ballet Theatre. She became the Founding Artistic Director of Northwest Classical Ballet and choreographed numerous full length ballets. She is a certified instruction in Progressing Ballet Technique and teaches at the Ballet West Academy. 

Derek Drilon

Derek Drilon began his training at Northwest Classical Ballet in Vancouver, Washington under the direction of his mother Maricar Drilon. He joined the Joffrey Ballet in 2015. He later joined the Boston Ballet as a soloist. Derek is currently involved in productions at both Joffery and Boston Ballet as a principal dancer. He has danced in China, Canada, France, and the Philippines.

​Derek is known for his silken turns and hypermobile extensions. He soars across the stage. His lines and height give the illusion of time suspended.
